Question to renters and landlords; what do you think is more important, paying your rent or having a good holiday / Christmas with your family? Do you think it's ok to short your landlord rent and assume they understands? Should the landlord be more understanding to the needs of the tenant and show some holiday cheer? Me personal I feel business is business. No matter what this world is still turning. Every situation has different outcomes. There are people who just try to get by and those who just try to get over. So it's all based on communication and the relationship between tenant and landlord. Then the decision / answer can be made accordingly.

Most landlords ARE understanding and sympathetic - we are people, too! But there is a signed agreement in place and both parties are expected to honor it. Rent should be paid in full by the due date. Once you start to let someone slide, it is a slippery slope that usually leads to evicition or skips and that leaves both parties unhappy.
